Song Title Challenge

A challenge started by Kokkieh over at If all else fails use a hammer. It started as a creative exercise for a group of people from his writing course. They gave each other song titles and they had to write short stories based on that song title.

When I read this I immediately wanted to take part. It is an amazing challenge and a really great opportunity to be creative and practice my writing. All pieces will be around 300 words and I promise they will be completely original.

This is where you come in. I need you to challenge me. Give me a song title to work with. It can be any type of song as long as it’s in English or Dutch. Also include the artist/band name so I can look it up after I’ve written the story. Yes, the idea is to write it without having listened to the song so you don’t get influenced.

If you want to participate in the challenge, please click on the link above and leave a message.

To challenge me, leave a comment below with the song + artist. Thank you!

  1. Thanks for adopting my idea! Please also write your own versions of my song titles and leave a link in the comments. I would like to see what different people do with the same title. Will definitely give yours a try.

      1. Yes. I’m hoping to start something similar to Friday Fictioneers that uses photo prompts. If a bunch of people participate each week we can read each other’s takes on the titles and learn from each other that way.

  2. I have to song titles for you. Is that okay?
1-Walking with a ghost by Tegan and Sara
    2-Thunderbolt by Björk

The challenge seems very interesting, I might take part after I finish my exams!
