May 7: Top Ten Books When You Need Something Light & Fun
1. The Shopaholic series
Especially the first 3 books. They’re so funny and light, I really enjoy reading it when I just want to turn my brain off and relax. It does the job fantastically.
2. The Undomestic Goddess
Also by Sophie Kinsella about a high-powered lawyer who has a break down and flees to the country where she pretends to be someone else and takes a job as a maid even though she doesn’t know anything about cleaning or cooking
3. Remember me?
Also by Sophie Kinsella. About a girl who lost 3 years of her memory after getting in a car accident. She thinks its 2004 when it’s actually 2007. She’s suddenly married to a rich, handsome guy and has a big career without knowing about any of it.
4. Can you keep a secret?
Emma (he he he) is a young woman on her first professional business trip. On the way back the plane experiences some terrible turbulence and she accidentally blurts out all her secrets to the guy sitting next to her. Unfortunately that man turns out to be the top boss of her company.
5. The sisterhood of the travelling pants series
Four young girls spend the summer apart for the first time and decide to share a pair of jeans that they all magically fit despite having very different body shapes.
6. Marley & Me
Story about a crazy, excited, adorable, lovable Labrador and it’s owner.
7. Fast Women
Written by Jennifer Crusie about a recently divorced middle-aged woman going to work in a private detective agency.
8. The Devil Wears Prada
About a young woman wanting to be a journalist getting a job at a top fashion magazine.
9. The Nanny Diaries
About a young woman getting a job as a Nanny in Manhattan instead of getting a full-time job after getting her anthropology degree. Really relating to this one as I’m thinking of maybe getting an au-pair job in the US!
10. The Harry Potter Series
Not going to explain that one. I know HP so well I can pretty much read it without thinking about it at all. Excellent relaxation material.
